ALL ABOUT COLORS

Coloring your hair can be so much fun and can compliment your hairstyle and overall look.

Hair coloring should enhance the hair and accentuate the eyes. Whether it is to cover or blend grey. Funk up a haircut or bring your natural color alive.

This can be done in many ways using various techniques

TYPES OF Colors & TREATMENTS

PERMANENT COLOR

Permanent color contains the smallest color molecules to enter and lock into your hair.

With permanent color you can have full coverage of grey hair and lighten your natural hair color by up to 4 levels lighter.

Permanent colors have advanced over the years. We use Majirel & Inoa By Loreal which not only gives fantastic permanent color results but also improves the condition of your hair. Shiny long lasting vibrant color results.

Majirel By L’Oreal

L’Oreal Majirel is a permanent hair color which provides the perfect coverage of up to 100% white hair. Majirel guarantees rich, deep, intense color and long lasting coverage with superior resistance to fading.

The highly advanced Majirel technology restores and protects the natural hair fibre from the core to the surface, providing superior conditioning and all–over shine. Mixed to various depths and intensities, Majirel provides longlasting color that cares. For full head or partial coloring, from blondes to natural colors and vibrant, fashionable shades.

AMMONIA FREE INOA BY L’OREAL

Odourless, Ammonia Free. Optimised For Scalp Comfort, Optimised Respect For The Hair, Unlimited color Results And Sublime Shine.

Up To 100% Grey/White Coverage. Hair Feels Intensely Nourished And Hydrated With Sublime Shine Untill Next Hair Color Treatment. Hair Feels Softer Than Before Coloring Process.

TYPES OF SERVICES

Full Head Global Color

Global color is the coverage of your full head of hair with one color. Great for full coverage of grey, also for balancing and even tone. Can be used to return a full head of highlights back to your natural hair color. Regrowth will occur as your hair grows. To ensure you never have roots we would recommend root application every three weeks.

The first time you have a global color service, the color would be applied to the middle and ends, before your root to allow for even processing. The heat from your head speeds up development time at the root area. If applied all the way through the hair together you would have ‘root glow’ where the roots are more vibrant than the rest of your hair.

We Recommend color lock treatment for longer lasting results.

Root Regrowth

To ensure that you never have roots it is necessary to cover your natural color as your hair grows. This is required after three weeks to ensure best results. Application of regrowth color to give an overall even result, ensuring that your roots match the rest of your hair.

This ensures maximum condition of your hair This has to be done very precisely as not to overlap color, which can cause banding with an overlay of color causing the middle of your hair to be darker than the roots and the ends. This will affect the overall color of your hair and the condition of your hair. If this happens it is very difficult to remove from the hair without using a color reductor to remove the banding. In short this is not something that you can do yourself and expect good results from.

It must be done by a certified colorist to ensure that your hair looks great and you have fabulous even hair color from root to tip.

Color Glossing / Color Toning

Toning is a hair color with a sheer shade option that helps achieve that perfect blonde tone and seal in an extra four to six weeks of shine. A toner can also be used to correct hair color. For example, your color can become dull or a bit brassy from the sun, environment or shampooing. A glaze is conditioning and non-damaging, so you are able to pop into your salon in-between highlights for a quick refresher for your highlights.

When used properly has the ability to take your hair to that celebrity status with shine and brilliance. If you’re worried about what a glaze will do to your hair, don’t be afraid to ask your colorist any questions pertaining to this topic.

A gloss is not able to lighten your hair or cover gray hair. For that, you will need to discuss other options with your stylist.

We Recommend color lock treatment for longer lasting results.

When you have had a color disaster, we have the skills and knowledge to correct it and give you the fabulous hair color you want

Color correction is advanced coloring skills to remove unwanted permanent hair color, which can be done by using a color reducer.

A color reducer will remove color without harming your hair. this is suitable for subtle color changes or for all over color removal, maintaining the condition of your hair. This would return your hair back to its natural base color to allow further coloring to achieve the required color. color, developer choice and application are of paramount importance in color correction and you can be assured that our experience and skills always allow us to make the correct choices for your hair.

Development time requires constant monitoring as every second counts.a color correction service might require multiple sittings.

Not Suitable If

you have a rash on your face or sensitive, irritated and damaged scalp,

you have ever experienced any reaction after coloring your hair,

you have applied “henna” in the past.

ALL ABOUT HIGHLIGHTS

WHAT IS A HIGHLIGHT
When you really want that sun kissed look, a Lightening Creme is used to achieve the results you want. Sometimes it is necessary to lift the natural pigment out of your hair.

This can be achieved in two ways, either by using super lighteners or a pre-lightening bleach. Many people are wary of bleach as they think it will damage their hair.

We want to be very clear on this nothing we do will damage your healthy hair. We only use the best most gentle cream bleach from L’Oreal.

This cream bleach uses lower volumes of developer, this pre-lightens your hair gently, leaving your hair with a fabulous shine and great condition

TYPES OF Highlights & Formulas

PRE-LIGHTENER

Pre-Lightener is the first step in the blonding journey. This is a time intensive service that takes all of the hair to a lighter shade & the final touch of toner ensures an excellent shade of blonde.

We never use heat to speed up development time of your color, as it affects the condition of your hair by increasing the alkalinity of the hair as it processes. We like to develop my color naturally to achieve optimum condition during the coloring process.

HIGHLIGHTS

A very popular technique which can be achieved using foil or meche packets. Selected strands of hair are color lightened, lighter than your natural hair color.

Several different colors are used to create a highlight effect with natural hair color blending. Various weaves of varying thicknesses depending on the desired results. Can be done partial, full head or if its your first time for the whole highlight process then you can opt for the 6 foil highlighting which is ideal for beginners.

We do not use the cap for highlights, even although this is a popular method of doing highlights. We find the cap is uncomfortable for you to wear and also means that the highlighted areas are chosen randomly and overall look cannot be guaranteed. Using the cap can also damage your hair depending on length as it is pulled through the cap. I’m sure you will agree with me that such risks should not be taken.

We do not use the cap for highlights, even although this is a popular method of doing highlights. we find the cap is uncomfortable for you to wear and also means that the highlighted areas are chosen randomly and overall look cannot be guaranteed. Using the cap can also damage your hair depending on length as it is pulled through the cap.so we try to avoid cap system overall.

Client can choose from 3 different highlights, 6 foil highlights for a first timer or to highlight the hairline with a maximum limit of 6 foils, Partial highlights give strands of color to upto 30 foils and with full highlights clients can opt unlimited foils.

LOWLIGHTS

Partial color using foil or meche packets. Depositing color into natural hair adding tone and depth.

A natural effect of blending several colors together including your own natural hair color. Various weaves or slices of varying thicknesses depending on the desired results.

To blend and compliment white hair to suit skin tone highlights and lowlights can be warm or cool depending what suits your skin tone best.

Client can choose from 3 different lowlights , 6 foil low lights for a first timer or to add some depth to hairline with a maximum limit of 6 foils, Partial lowlights give strands of color to upto 30 foils and with full lowlights clients can opt unlimited foils

OMBRE IS THE STYLE

WHAT IS IT?
Generally, ombres work best on brunettes because it is the least subtle of all the techniques, a sombre is what we would see on blondes.

That technique is more subtle, hence the word sombre. Ombre is great for the more daring girl, it is definitely more noticeable and typically more maintenance.

Ombre is kind of like color blocking, there are no dark pieces left on the bottom to help keep it natural, just a nice transition between the colors.

While the ombre is a beautiful look, it is also something that needs to be done right! A bad ombre can make all the difference and please don’t try to do it on your own ladies! That’s the style called Homebre and no one wants that!

HOW DO WE DO IT?
Colorist takes sections of hair and weaves , backcombs and then paint on what is left, using a feathering motion, saturating the ends, laying plastic wrap over it and repeating. when it’s finished there is soft flow of color from darker to lighter.

BALAYAGE IS THE TECHNIQUE

WHAT IS IT?
The word “Balayage” comes from another French word meaning “to sweep”.

Now, if you have ever seen someone get a balayage in the salon, this probably makes sense to you. When applying the color for a balayage, you sweep the color through small triangle sections of the hair onto a board or foil, giving it the natural transition down into the lighter color. In Balayage, there are dark pieces left on the bottom to create dimension and a more natural look. This technique looks like natural sun-kissed highlights throughout the hair.

The transition is more natural and it is less maintenance than an ombre

HOW DO WE DO IT?
The Balayage pieces should be very close and soft at the root leading to a thicker highlight at the ends of the hair.

Balayage is applied on the surface of the section and not saturated through the section until the very tips, otherwise you would have a streak of color that isn’t vey soft at all. It can also be called a freehand technique because no foil or meche are used to create the highlights.”

BABYLIGHTS

WHAT IS IT?
Babylights are superfine strands of color running throughout, This technique makes the hair look multi dimensional because the Babylights are so fine.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
Babylights are done with meche or plastic wraps. You can either go heavily or lightly depending on the finish you want, but the idea is they’re micro to look natural.

If you go heavier it’s a stronger look but still lovely and soft. If you go lighter, it’s so fine it looks like you were born with it.

Our go-to lightener is L’Oreal Professionnel’s Platinium, which lifts beautifully but leaves hair shiny and in good condition. Maintenance wise, you’ll need to retouch every 8 weeks on heavier babylights, but you can go longer (12-14 weeks) on more gentle microlights. This technique can be done on any shade, not just blondes, but we love the impact it has for blondes.”

ECAILE

WHAT IS IT?
Ecaille is a French word meaning tortoiseshell.

It’s not as as dramatic as ombré but it’s more obvious than bronde. Golden lights are mixed with darker, richer caramel tones while incorporating shades of honey, amber, golden blonde and dark brown paired with gloss.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
To achieve this look stylist works with a variety of techniques. These include babylights throughout for a gradual blended minimal look and a face frame of balayage around the front. Ecaille features many different shades. Some may choose to add more amber or honey tones but others could opt for darker bases and golden strands.

That’s the beauty of this trend; it’s a matter of preference. The best results come from working with shades that complement the skin tone – just a few shades lighter and darker than the base to avoid a color that’s too dramatic.”

BRONDE

WHAT IS IT?
Everyone wants to be blonde – even brunettes. Introducing bronde – the perfect infusion of blonde and brunette. “Bronde is perfect for darker haired clients who want to try out a lighter color. It can be warm, neutral or cool.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
The key to the perfect shade of bronde is to lighten hair by freehand painting pieces making sure that the color is softer near the mid-section and thicker towards the ends and is even all the way through.

This look is fresher and low on up-keep. This color is great for people who don’t want to completely take the plunge and go either way (full blonde or full brunette) and great for natural brunettes who want a little bit of lightness.

We’ve seen that most celebrities sporting bronde are within two shades of their natural color.

DIP-DYE

WHAT IS IT?
Instead of a gradual fading of color from dark at the roots to light at the ends, dip dye is much more of a sharp contrast. The dipped section can be any color you want but vibrant shades of bright pink and My Little Pony blue are popular.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
Dip-dye is achieved when the ends of the hair are dipped in a pre-lightener before being colored. Lift the hair until it’s a very pale yellow and then color away!

HAIR CONTOURING

Hair contouring is a coloring technique that uses a combination of free hand application and highlighting paired with the careful positioning of different tones and depths around the face to highlight and shadow targeted areas. Darker tones create shadows and are used to shorten or narrow the face shape, whilst lighter tones elongate and lengthen the face shape by reflecting light.

This clever placement of color and the careful selection of complimentary tones perform an optical illusion and make your face appear more defined and features more accentuated.

DO’S AND DONT’S FOR DAILY HAIR CARE

DO’S

  • Do invest in color-enhancing hair products. Ammonia-free products specifically designed for color-treated hair will make color appear brighter and shinier. These products are made to treat and protect hair that is left weak from dye.
  • DO condition your color. Use conditioner every time you shampoo, and don’t rinse it out until the end of your shower – the steam will help the conditioner penetrate deeper into your hair. Seal your new color by applying leave-in conditioner and sleeping with hair wrapped, and try a hot-oil deep conditioner once a week to keep hair soft and supple.
  • DO use the right brush. A great brush can prevent fading and promote shine in your hair. For a sleek style, use a paddle brush. If you have layers and want volume, go for a round natural bristle brush.
  • DO protect your hair from the sun. UV rays fade hair color and dehydrate strands – even during winter months. Shampoos, glazes, and conditioners with SPF can help protect hair from sun damage year-round. Some brands even include a mix of vitamins A, C, and E, which help restore hair and prevent further damage.
  • DO Wait atleast 24 hrs prior to washing your hair after the service.

DONT’S

  • DON’T shampoo too often. Shampooing twice a week is recommended, although those with oily or fine hair can shampoo up to every other day. Avoid clarifying shampoos altogether, as their cleansing agents can strip hair of dye pigments.
  • DON’T use too much hairspray. Hairspray strips the sheen from hair, so try to avoid it. If you need the hold, follow it with some shine serum.
  • DON’T drown your hair. Research suggests that up to 80% of color fade is caused by water alone. Once you shampoo and condition in the shower, avoid letting the water run over your hair. When you do rinse, use lukewarm or cool water—hot water can cause color loss.
  • DON’T overheat. High heat can cause dull color by making the hair cuticles rough. If you can’t air dry, a tourmaline and ceramic grill blow dryer can help smooth cuticles without the damage. Flat irons can dry out hair, so use heat-protective products like sprays and serums to prevent damage.
  • DON’T wash your hair 24 hrs prior to a color service,as natural oils helps during the process.

We love our guests… and know that we’d love their friends and family as well.  So we have a wonderful program to reward our existing guests for sending in their loved ones to us.

The referral program is simple.  You refer a new client and when they come in they will receive 50 AED off as a new client promotion and if they spend over 500AED in one sitting you’ll receive 250 AED to use towards any of our services. The more you refer, the more you save!

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Often appointments can be held for a client for weeks, sometimes even months in advance and should someone not show up for one of these appointments it creates great cost to the business and to the therapist & Stylist. Therefore If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment we ask that you contact us by ‘closing’ of the day prior to your appointment to alert us that you will be unable to make the scheduled day and time.

Should you give us less notice than required or simply not show up for your appointment. Future appointments may only be booked on a waiting list basis and guaranteed appointments may not be available without prior deposit.

We understand that emergencies and scheduling conflicts happen so if you miss your appointment or simply no show over 3 times in a given month the above will be taken into action.

COLOR/KERATIN CONSULTATIONS

For any services where chemicals will be applied to your hair or scalp, we require a special consultation ahead of time specifically to discuss the desired outcome of this service.

This consultation is only required for new guests or guests new to this service.

This is a part of our customer care program.  In order to ensure the services are safe for the guest, safe for the hair and safe for the skin we ensure the desired service can be performed within the range of normal risks. We will discuss service history, allergies, current side effects experienced from medications, etc…to make sure that there will be no surprises when the chemicals are applied to your hair and scalp.

Once this is determined and formulation worked through, we will then set up the specific service appointment for you.  After which, you will not be required to have a separate visit for consultations from that point on.

WHY DO YOU ASK ME TO CHANGE INTO A ROBE FOR MY SERVICE?

Similar to our other guest care programs, we ask that during your service you change into a service robe in order to:

* Minimize hair from going down your shirt/blouse
* Keep hair color and products from staining or soiling your clothing
* Keep collars and high neck lines out of the way of scissors

If you choose to not change into a service robe we need to remind you that we cannot be responsible for any of the above should they occur.
